It strikes me as very strange that those who support Maburro (the misspelling is deliberate) and are criticizing the Americans for "invading" the Caribbean Sea have absolutely nothing critical to say about the Donkey's rule and the FACT that practically one third of the population has fled the country!. Venezuela started with a population of more than 30 million when Maburro came to power, Today close to 10 million have fled the country - the wealthiest country in South America in terms of minerals (such as gold and oil.)
Now, you must understand that there is only one reason for politics - one reason for government: and that is TO MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR THE PEOPLE! There is no other reason!
So when there are those who are criticizing the United States (where everybody thinks that they will be better off) and the Trinidadian Prime Minister for supporting the Yankees, it would certainly sound a lot better if they explained why they think that it is acceptable for one third of a country to flee a regime ere those who have fled think that life has to be better than where they were born and raised. Can you imagine how desperate you must feel to leave your home, your family, your friends, your memories - EVERYTHING behind! And those who have fled to Trinidad have done so despite the fact that by and large they can't speak English! Ten million people!
No! To those who support Maburro I call each and every one of you stupid to your face (and any other derogatory name that you can think of).

ReplyDeleteMr. Montano, Before you go calling people "stupid and any other derogatory name that you can think of" you need to get a better grasp of the Venezuelan situation.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all ten million persons have not fled Venezuela. The figure is closer to 4.5 million.
Secondly ,the majority of those who fled did so because US sanctions against Venezuela made life there a living hell. It is US sanctions, Mr. Montano, that have crippled the Venezuelan economy causing the exodus. While there are some who fled to escape political reprisals, the majority did not.
I am one of those who criticize our Prime Minister for her sycophantic attempts to curry favour with the Trump administration; they do do more than betray her poor judgment. They undermine our sovereignty and insult our national pride.
National dignity has become the first casualty of Kamla Persad Bissessar's prime ministership and she should be condemned for that, not praised.
